Genetic diversity of table grape based on morphoagronomic traits Scientia Agricola
Leão,Patrícia Coelho de Souza; Cruz,Cosme Damião; Motoike,Sérgio Yoshimitsu.
The conservation and characterization of grape (Vitis spp) genetic resources in germplasm banks have been the basis of its use in breeding programs that result in development of new cultivars. There are at least 10,000 grape cultivars kept in germplasm collection. The genetic diversity in 136 table grape accessions from the state of Bahia, Brazil, was evaluated. Continuous and discrete morphoagronomic traits were assessed. The clustering analysis by the Tocher otimization method resulted in 30 clusters (considering continuous morphoagronomic traits), and 9 clusters (taking into consideration multicategorical traits). There was no agreement between clusters obtained by both, continuous or discrete phenotypic descriptors, independent of the cluster method...

GGE Biplot projection in discriminating the efficiency of popcorn lines to use nitrogen Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Santos,Adriano dos; Amaral Júnior,Antônio Teixeira do; Kurosawa,Railan do Nascimento Ferreira; Gerhardt,Ismael Fernando Schegoscheski; Fritsche Neto,Roberto.
ABSTRACT Nitrogen is essential for sustaining life on the planet, and it is the most important nutrient for obtaining high agricultural production. However, their use leads to the release of nitrous oxide with a global warming potential 296 times higher than the CO2 molecule, making it a challenge to reduce their use in agriculture. The objective of this research was to identify efficient popcorn inbred lines and responsive nitrogen use and exhibit a good expansion volume. For this, 29 inbred lines from the Germplasm Collection of Darcy Ribeiro North Fluminense State University (UENF) were evaluated at two contrasting levels of nitrogen availability (low and ideal) at two representative locations in the north and northwest of the state of Rio de Janeiro,...

HETEROTIC GROUP FORMATION IN PSIDIUM GUAJAVA L. BY ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK AND DISCRIMINANT ANALYSIS Rev. Bras. Frutic.
CAMPOS,BIANCA MACHADO; VIANA,ALEXANDRE PIO; QUINTAL,SILVANA SILVA RED; BARBOSA,CIBELLE DEGEL; DAHER,ROGÉRIO FIGUEIREDO.
ABSTRACT The present study aimed at evaluating the heterotic group formation in guava based on quantitative descriptors and using artificial neural network (ANN). For such, we evaluated eight quantitative descriptors. Large genetic variability was found for the eight quantitative traits in the 138 genotypes of guava. The artificial neural network technique determined that the optimal number of groups was three. The grouping consistency was determined by linear discriminant analysis, which obtained classification percentage of the groups, with a value of 86 %. It was concluded that the artificial neural network method is effective to detect genetic divergence and heterotic group formation.

Heterozygosity level and its relationship with genetic variability mechanisms in beans Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Melo,Rita Carolina de; Trevisani,Nicole; Pereira,Thayse Cristine Vieira; Guidolin,Altamir Frederico; Coimbra,Jefferson Luís Meirelles.
ABSTRACT Heterozygosity is an extremely important resource in early breeding programs using autogamous plants because it is usually associated with the presence of genetic variability. Induced mutation and artificial hybridization can increase distinctly the proportion of loci in heterozygosis. This study aimed to compare segregating and mutant populations and relate the mechanisms used to generate variability with their respective heterozygosity levels tested. The treatments mutant populations (M2, M3, M4, M5, M6 and M7), segregating populations (F4, F5 and F6) and lines (BRS Pérola and IPR Uirapuru) were evaluated by multivariate analysis and compared by orthogonal contrasts. The canonical discriminant analysis revealed which response variables...

Gardes, Lionel; Villanove, Philippe; Buchet, Vincent; Fauvel, Christian.
The present work examines the usefulness of the combination of multivariate analyses and further one-way analysis of variance in the search for links between causes and effects in heterologous stimulation of spawning in fish. Stimulations with both 20 and 50 mu g . kg(-1) doses of [D Trp(6)] luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone analogue (LH-RHa) were effective in inducing and synchronizing spawning of red drum, Sciaenops ocellatus. Oocyte development monitoring using ovarian biopsy allowed treatment injections at different stages of maturation. The influence at stimulation time of female oocyte development state upon further development was shown. An interesting potential of second stimulation, leading to high quality spawns, was established and factors...
